Wrong on Rail

On June 10, 2011, in transportation, by Mike K.

The Leesburg Today published my letter to the editor this week questioning Ken Cuccinelli’s opposition to phase two of the Dulles Rail Project.

I certainly don’t disagree that there are cost issues with phase two that should concern all of us as taxpayers.  Those issues–including the location of the airport metro stop–do need to be addressed in a way that’s respectful of those of us who are footing the bill for phase two.

But, to make the leap to calling the entire project a ‘boondoggle’ and recommending that it be scrapped ignores so many other important factors that will impact our communities in Loudoun long after this election cycle has passed.

Making the best decision for Loudouners based on all of these factors–both short term and long term–is the focus of my letter.

Give it a read and let me know what you think in the comments below.
